Photos and Images
When you scan a clothing item, the photos you submit are sent to our AI analysis service (Anthropic) for identification and pricing. These photos may be stored in HangTag's database as part of our effort to improve analysis accuracy and build a proprietary vintage clothing pricing dataset. Images are used solely for clothing identification and pricing purposes and are never used to identify individuals.
Scan Data
Each scan generates data including item name, era, pricing estimates, confidence score, and any optional details you provided (such as brand or description). This data is stored in HangTag's database and used to improve the App's accuracy over time.
Information You Provide
You may optionally provide additional details such as brand name or item description to improve analysis accuracy. This information is stored as part of your scan record.
Saved Scans
Scan results are stored both locally on your device and in HangTag's database. Locally stored data can be deleted at any time within the App. To request deletion of data stored in our database, contact us at [email protected].
Usage Data
We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as the number of scans performed, app crashes, and general feature usage. This data cannot be used to identify you and is used solely to improve the App.HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

Anthropic (Claude AI)
Your photos and optional item details are sent to Anthropic's API for analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
eBay Browse API
We query eBay's public listings API using search terms generated from your scan. No personal information is sent to eBay. eBay's privacy policy is available at ebay.com/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/ebay-privacy-policy.
Supabase
HangTag uses Supabase to store scan data and usage information. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
Google Apps Script
Our pricing backend runs on Google's infrastructure. No personally identifiable information is processed through this service.
RevenueCat
HangTag uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Expo / EAS
HangTag is built with Expo. App updates are delivered through Expo's update service. Expo's privacy policy is available at expo.dev/privacy.DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
Scan data and images are stored in HangTag's secure database. We take reasonable technical measures to protect all data transmitted through the App, including encrypted HTTPS connections for all API communications.
Locally saved scans are stored on your device and can be deleted at any time within the App.DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
We retain scan data to improve the accuracy of HangTag over time. You may request deletion of your stored scan data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Common questions:How accurate are the pricing estimates?
HangTag uses AI analysis combined with live eBay market data to generate estimates. Prices reflect current active listings and are a strong starting point — but actual sale prices vary based on condition, platform, and timing. Always verify before buying or selling.Why didn't HangTag recognize my item?
For best results, photograph the tag or label clearly, include a full shot of the item, and use the "Add details" field to provide brand, fabric, or zipper information. More context = better accuracy.How do I delete a saved item?
On the home screen, long press any item in Recent Finds to enter edit mode, then tap the red X to remove it.Is my data private?
